Rich Flammer

Rich has more than 32 years of hands-on composting experience working extensively throughout the
continental U.S., Hawaii, Central America and Mexico. Principal of the consulting firm, Hidden
Resources, he has designed, managed, permitted, evaluated, and/or remediated hundreds of large-scale
composting facilities for both private and public sector clients. He has also been involved in public policy
formation, rulemaking development for state composting regulations, composting technology assessment
and development, and has conducted seven regional studies evaluating 58 individual municipal
composting programs. He is a nationally recognized composting operations and odor mitigation expert.

Also a specialist in public relations and education, Rich does frequent outreach work, writes instructional
manuals, promotional materials, editorial pieces, website copy, and gives lectures and workshops on a
regular basis. He has designed three permanent home composting exhibits, appeared in two instructional
videos, and loves combining his public relations skills with operational knowledge to advance the
dynamism and tremendous social, environmental and economic value of source reduction, organic
resource management and composting.
