
Alyse Schrecongost
Alyse Schrecongost is a Senior Program Officer for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Water, Sanitation, & Hygiene Program where she leads the team’s regulatory and utility partnership work. Her grantmaking focuses on fostering change in sanitation sector so inclusive, safe sanitation services in urban areas are increasingly institutionalized and sustained as a sector norm. This includes supporting communities seeking a voice in setting service system goals and outcomes. It includes investing in government and utility staff who are actively working to formalize sanitation services, private sector participation, data management systems. It includes supporting the specific reforms in service systems that improve services for women and other marginalized or excluded consumers. Alyse is an economist by training and mother of two fiery little girls. Prior to working at the foundation, Alyse has worked on water, environmental, and social policy issues domestically and internationally from West Virginia to the Solomon Islands and several places in between.
