SOIL's New Digs!
Submitted by Sasha Kramer on Tue, 12/22/2009 - 11:51
Welcome to the snazzy new SOIL web site brought to you courtesy of our most recent addition to the SOIL team, web guru Nadine Mondestin. What you see here is the fruit of six months of gruelling virtual labour - we hope you like it.
Thanks to those of you who have patiently encouraged us to update our online presence, and we won't disappoint you - you can expect to unearth fresh dirt on SOIL on a much more regular basis.
We want to give special thanks to webmaster Danny K. who donated his time and incredible skills over the past three years to maintain our original site.

Someone commented on the Soil facebook site that Sasha has posted on her facebook page that she and her students are okay.
I'm trying to find that. Do
I'm trying to find that. Do we have a way to confirm? Thanks much.
someone posted that this was on Sasha's FB page:
To all my loved ones. I just want you all to know that we are safe. We felt the earthquake in Cap Haitien but the damage here was not too bad. All of the students who are visiting and our team in Cap Haitien are safe. We are holding our friends in Port au Prince in our hearts and prayers. We have not been able to reach anyone there. Thank you for your thoughts and kind words
Hoorah for their safety!!!! Now how to support the others...
safe
I keep trying to post, but it won't let me!! I'm so worried about you, your colleagues and those you love in Haiti - well, all the people of Haiti. If it's possible, find a way to communicate and let us know you're okay. I'm sending relief money today.
love you,
Carol
I've called all your numbers,
I've called all your numbers, and left a message at the International Studies Department in Florida Not gonna stop 'til I found out if you're okay. :-) ~ Carol

Brilliant!
Commo Ou Ye, Zami?
My Creole is sparce (piti piti?) after all these years. I lived in Haiti for a few months during Baby Doc's regime while working with the Missionaries of Charity in Jacmel and Port Au Prince. I fell in love with the place and the people.
What are doing is absolutely brilliant! Solving the topsoil issue and the sanitation issue at the same time with cheap, simple technology!
Would love to hear about the present situation in Haiti, if you have tiem and inclination to email.
Many blessings
David
